EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - A shoe drive in Evansville ends with some very impressive results.
The Evansville community donated more than 12,000 does to 'Soles 4 Souls'.
It's a non-profit organization that collects shoes and distributes them around the world.
Some of the shoes are given directly to people in need.
The shoe drive, which began last Sunday, ended with a race on Saturday.
"That's what we want to see. We want to see the community involved in this initiative to spread the word so that we can end poverty," said Gina Gibson, CEO, Evansville Christian Life Center.
A shoe-filled semi will head to Alabama on Sunday night.
On Tuesday, Evansville will be getting a shipment of new shoes in return for its donation.
