LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has announced there will be more lane closures Easter weekend on Interstate 65 in Bullitt County.

Northbound I-65 will be reduced to one lane between the Bullitt County, Hardin County line and Lebanon Junction Road (mile points 103.3 to 105.9) to replace sections of concrete pavement.

The right and center lanes on northbound I-65 will be closed from 9 p.m. on Friday, April 18 until 5 a.m. on Monday, April 21.

Drivers should expect heavy delays through this work zone. A detour will be setup to allow driver to follow the Bluegrass Parkway to KY-61 and KY-245 and proceed to northbound I-65.

Alternate routes include Highway 61 and US 31-W. Drivers can also get off I-65 North at Hwy 62/Bardstown Road toward Boston. In Boston, turn left on Hwy 61/Lebanon Junction Road to get back on the interstate.

Construction began in March on this $20.7 million project to remove and replace various sections of concrete pavement across a 20-mile section of I-65 in Bullitt County.

Work is currently taking place in the southern portion of the project area. Two lanes of traffic are open in each direction during the week. The contractor is permitted to reduce the interstate to one lane in each direction on weekends.

The speed limit in the work zone is reduced to 55 MPH and double fines will be enforced.

Hall Contracting of Louisville, Kentucky was awarded this contract with construction scheduled for completion in November 2014.

The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.
