Woman arrested for stealing phones, wallets from Chesterfield fitness center

Police arrested a woman accused of stealing from a Chesterfield fitness center multiple times.

Kelly Muncy, 29, is accused of stealing phones, credit cards, and cash from the ACAC Fitness Center off Robious Road.

"We were surprised and really mad," said General Manager Joyce Steed. "We wanted to find out who did this."

Police said the thief hit the fitness center on April 1, April 2, April 3, and April 8.

"What we learned was our members don't lock up their valuables," said Steed, "and it would be great if they did lock up their valuables."

Muncy was ultimately arrested and charged with at least 10 counts of grand larceny and credit card theft. Managers say their surveillance cameras helped police make the arrest.

"They always have staff walking around and observing," said ACAC member Ron Borcato.

He notes some lockers come at no extra charge.

"You can use our express lockers," confirmed Steed. "There is no charge to it. It's very simple to do, but sometimes you just don't think to do it."

Steed says they plan to upgrade to HD cameras to better spot crooks.

"Because I think if we did have high definition we might be able to do it a little bit faster," said Steed.
