OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

An Owensboro man was arrested Friday night after authorities say he popped a wheelie then led deputies on a high-speed chase.

The Daviess County Sheriff's Office says 23-year-old Steven Tyler Stanley was unaware a deputy was behind him on New Hartford Road when he did a wheelie on his motorcycle.

Authorities say when the deputy turned on his lights and siren, Stanley sped off at a high rate of speed.

Deputies say Stanley eventually lost control, got off his motorcycle, and began running.

He was taken into custody on East 4th Street then taken to the Daviess County Detention Center.

Stanley is facing several charges including wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading, and reckless driving.
