Businesses to relocate due to IU Med School

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - Two downtown businesses will have to relocate when the IU Medical School comes to downtown Evansville.

The businesses are Town Square Media, which owns several Evansville radio stations, and D Patrick Ford, which has been in the same location since 1936.

"I think it is the right thing, I think that where we are is not as appropriate for retail automobile dealership as maybe it was back in 1936 when we moved there," said Mike O'Daniel, Owner, D Patrick Ford.

O'Daniel says they'll miss being in the location they're at now, but he's been in discussions with the city and believes it's a good move,"I think that it's the perfect location for the medical school and I think it's a big win for the city."

O'Daniel says the city will pay for D Patrick's move. They are looking at five locations.

Evansville residents are also excited about the new IU Med School.

"I think the medical school would be great for the you know the community …to have a nice impact on the economy and open up a lot of jobs," said USI Freshman, Emily Olsen.

Olsen is interested in eventually going to Medical School. She says the IU Medical School would be good for her because it's close to home, "I think it would be cool because I mean I might end up transferring there cause I'm going in the medical field."
