Names released of people killed in accident at Hwy 41 & Washington

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Two people are dead after an accident on Evansville's southeast side.

A car, driven by 21-year-old Jacob Nelson, of Evansville, and a semi collided Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 41 and Washington Avenue.

Police say witnesses have told them that they believe the driver of the car had fallen asleep and the passenger, 25-year-old Sean Malicoat, of Evansville, was trying to wake him up.

The Vanderburgh County Coroner tells us Jacob died at the scene due to injuries. Sean died at St. Mary's Hospital due to injuries.

Evansville Police say this is one of the worst accident they've covered.

The semi driver was not injured.

U.S. 41 has since reopened.
