Shepard Ave. still almost knee deep in water

The water on Shepherd Drive in Evansville has gone down a little since the storm, but is still just under knee-high depth.

At least one vehicle that got stuck overnight but neighbors say the people who were in the vehicle ended up climbing out the windows to get to their house.

Neighbors also tell us this road floods regularly during the rainy months but say they've never seen it this bad before.

"We've lived here for seven years and I can honestly say that I've never seen it this bad," says Shepard Drive native Kayla Duff.  "It's very annoying to have to park all the way down the street and kind of walk back."

Even though this road and others like it may be passable, police and road officials say it's best to simply not risk it.

If you encounter high water like this, either turn around and find another route, or if the water is blocking you from your home park down the street and walk the rest of the way.
