Death at Ft. Hood

Investigators at Fort Hood, Texas are looking into what triggered a soldier to open fire on other soldiers Wednesday, killing three people and wounding or injuring 16 others. Authorities say Ivan Lopez shot himself after he eventually was confronted by military police in a parking lot. Fort Hood is the same facility where there was a mass shooting in 2009. An Army psychiatrist now on death row killed 13 people and wounded more than 30 others.

Severe outbreak possible

After a very stormy night, more scattered strong to severe storms will be possible by this afternoon and evening. A powerful system will take shape to our west and move into the Tri-State between 6pm and 3 am Friday.  Damaging winds, hail and tornadoes will be possible, especially over far western Kentucky and southern Illinois. Eric Garlick will have the complete 14 First Alert forecast.

Lost convention?

We've learned the first convention booked for Evansville's new downtown hotel could now be in jeopardy because of a protest filed against the hotel. The work on the hotel is set to be finished by Fall 2015, but we're told the doors might not open in time for the first large convention the city already has booked.
