Light it up Blue Ceremony to kick off Autism Awareness Month

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - Inspiring Autism Spectrum Families is hosting an awareness event at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday night front of the Civic Center in Evansville called "Light it up Blue."

Everyone who attends will receive blue glow sticks. After a mayoral proclamation is read making April Autism Awareness Month, everyone will light up their glow sticks in honor of kids and families dealing with autism spectrum disorders.

IASF has several events this month. Some are specifically designed for autism spectrum families, but others like Light it up Blue are for the entire community.

Thursday, April 10: Parent support group meeting at the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center, 5:30-7 p.m.

Saturday, April 12: Third annual "Walk for Autism" at the Vanderburgh County 4-H Center, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Friday, April 25: Family Fun Night for autism spectrum families at Plaza Middle School, 6-8 p.m.
