HODGENVILLE, KY (WAVE) - LaRue County's Superintendent Sam Sanders gets to keep his job after a DUI arrest last weekend, at least for now.
"He's innocent until proven guilty," LaRue School District Board Member Linda Pearman said.
A special meeting was called Tuesday evening to decide what to do following Sanders' arrest. Due to the personal matter of the case, the board met behind closed doors where they looked over Sander's contract with an attorney.
The decision infuriated some.
"What about people who have been hit by drunk drivers?" one woman yelled from the crowd of about 50.
"He's supposed to be an example for our community, he's no example," resident Tracey Ray said.
"I feel it would be careless for us to speak before the legal process has run its course," Hornback said to the crowd.
"We are tied to what are legal ramifications are," Pearman explained.
