SHELBYVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A job fair will be held Tuesday in an effort to fill hundreds of positions at the soon-to-open outlet mall in Simpsonville.
Horizon Group Properties, Inc. will hold the job fair for The Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass on Tuesday, April 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Martha Layne Collins High School gymnasium, 801 Discovery Blvd. in Shelbyville.
"More than 1,000 positions need to be filled," according to Gina Slechta, vice president of marketing for Horizon Group Properties. "There is a wide variety of positions available, including management, sales associate, security, administration, marketing, maintenance and housekeeping."
Since the shopping center is scheduled to open July 31, "many of the stores are hoping to interview and hire on the spot," said Slechta.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and are encouraged to dress appropriately for job interviews and bring multiple copies of their resumes.
"This is an exciting opportunity for the region not only to get people employed but to strengthen the economy, as well," said Commissioner Beth Brinly of the Kentucky Career Center. "The partnership we have with Horizon allows us to assist them in finding the most qualified and skilled workforce to meet their stores' needs. I look forward to building relationships with the businesses this project will bring to the Bluegrass."
Horizon Group Properties is the mall's owner and developer.
