Elite Eight Tournament tips off at the Ford Center

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - The Elite Eight Tournament is now underway at the Ford Center in downtown Evansville.

The tournament is a big deal for the city and for the Ford Center. To land something like this means more money for businesses and some national TV time for the city.

The third game of the day got underway at 6:00 Wednesday night. It was a match-up between the Drury Panthers and the West Liberty Hilltoppers.

Those teams and others competing in the tournament are from all over the country. That means other than the teams travelling here and so are some of their fans, their families and friends.

That's a lot of additional money pumped into the local economy.

The final game on Wednesday gets underway at the Ford Center at 8:30 p.m.
