EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The Evansville Convention & Visitors Bureau awarded bids for the new 60 acre baseball and softball complex Wednesday morning.

Empire Contractors, Inc. received one package and Blankenberger Brothers received two.

Empire, which is based in Evansville, bid $5,024,400 for the general contractor package.

Blankenberger, which is based in Cynthiana, IN, bid $6,414,000 for a combination of the site work and field turf packages.

We're told the CVB will be rebidding the fourth package which is for the field lighting.

There were six bids for the lighting package but they were all rejected.

CVB Executive Director Bob Warren says rebidding will not delay the project.

Warren says no date has been set for groundbreaking, but they are aiming for it to take place in two weeks.
