The U.S. Postal Service wants you to keep your dog away from mail carriers because an aggressive dog could mean your mail won't be delivered.
Evansville Postal officials say so far this year, five letter carriers have been bitten by dogs. They say that was the amount that had in the city throughout 2013.
The most recent attack happened a week ago when a dog broke off its leash and seriously injured a carrier.
The USPS says even if your neighbors' dog is the problem, that could affect your mail service.
Postal Service officials say the best way to avoid an issue is to keep your dog inside and secure.
They say don't assume your dog won't bite just because it hasn't before.
