Second phase of Oak Hill Rd. underway

Posted: Updated:

The second phase of construction on Oak Hill Road is well underway, but it's still a headache for some homeowners.

Phase two is starting and although the road is completely torn up all the way to Lynch Road, residents say this portion of the project is better and more tolerable than other areas of construction.

Residents say most drivers know they have to take turns winding through the single lane road and know that portions might be completely blocked when certain work is being done.

One resident says that when she has a problem with her property, the workers will help fix the problem, but we're told some problems won't be completely corrected until the project is complete.

"The driveways are really bad. You bottom out whenever you try to get up into your driveway. It's mainly elderly people that live out here and I've seen so many drop off into the dirt. We'll be happy to get it done, but I think they're learning as the go and they're doing a lot better," a neighbor said.

Some of the construction workers say they're angry because drivers come through here at 40 miles per hour. Oak Hill is open for residents only and there's no through traffic allowed.

Employees say the project is expected to be complete by July, weather permitting.
