A man attempting to do a good deed had to have his legs amputated following a crash in Chesterfield.
A man who worked for a private security firm pulled over on the side of Midlothian Turnpike around 6:55 p.m. Monday and got out to help a disabled motorist. Due to icy conditions, another vehicle ran off the road, and crashed into the back of his SUV. That crash propelled the vehicle forward, and pinned the victim between his vehicle and the vehicle of the disabled motorist.
The victim had to have his legs amputated as a result of the incident. He was taken to a hospital. No one else was hurt.
No charges have been filed against the driver.
