Owensoro City Commission votes down water bill increase

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

OMU customers won't be paying more on their water bills next month.

On Tuesday night, the Owensboro City Commission voted three to two against a proposal that would have increased the average household water bill by $2.55 in April and then by another $2.95 by April of next year.

OMU officials say they're disappointed with the outcome.

"We're obviously going to have to go back tour utility commission, regroup and determine our course of action," says Sonya Dixon, OMU spokesperson.

OMU says it proposed the increase because customers are using less water and the utility's cost keep rising.
