Traffic congestion at Henderson County High School is on the agenda after the school district revealed plans to expand the high school.
With congestion and safety a major concern at school, the district says a traffic study needs to be done to relieve congestion.
Studies are usually done before new construction starts, but over the years, the school has expanded with no traffic study. Several accidents have occurred, and signs making U-turns illegal have been added, but traffic still backs up in the morning and afternoons.
Since the school district is in the process of again adding on to the school, so they feel like now is the time to do one.
"This congestion is pretty tight. It's pretty heavy and we're aware of that and we have tried our best with a limited knowledge that we have to best formulate a plan," says Keegan O'Daniel, the Director of Transportation for Henderson Schools.
The school district is working with the city and the Kentucky Department of Transportation on the study which will begin soon.
