GARFIELD HEIGHTS: 15-year-old shot in church parking lot

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) -

The Garfield Heights Police Department is currently investigating the shooting of a young man in a church parking lot.

Just before 11 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2014 officers responded to a call for shots fired at 13455 Dressler Avenue. 

Police arrived to find a 15-year-old teenager suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot at the Word of Righteousness Family Life Center.

EMS also responded and transported the victim with serious injuries to MetroHealth Medical Center.

His uncle told 19 Action News his nephew was shot in the head and is fighting for his life.

At this time there aren't any details available regarding what led up to the shooting.

The victim's identity is not being released. 

The Garfield Heights Detective Bureau is investigating.
