KNOX CO., IN (WFIE) -

An 11-year-old Bicknell girl has been seriously injured in a mini-bike crash.

Indiana State Police say they responded to a vacant lot near 913 West Fourth Street just after 4:30 Friday evening for a crash involving a mini-bike and a parked SUV.

Troopers say 11-year-old Elizabeth Chambers was driving the mini-bike when she lost control, crossed a sidewalk causing the mini-bike to go airborne and then landed in the roadway. Authorities say she continued out of control and hit a parked SUV.

Chamers was initially taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, but she was later airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville where she is currently being treated for serious injuries.

Troopers say Chamers was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
