An Evansville man has been arrested on several different charges after an overnight chase.
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office says 28-year-old Charles Michael Kasmer was wanted on a felony warrant for narcotics when deputies noticed his vehicle driving southbound on St. Joe Avenue just before 2:00 Saturday morning.
Deputies say they attempted to stop him at St. Joe and Albert Avenue when he sped away from authorities. We're told the pursuit lead deputies through the west part of the city until they headed north on Grove Street towards a levee.
It's said Kasmer then drove over the levee, crashed, then tried to run away from authorities. A deputy and his K9 partner were able to stop Kasmer.
The sheriff's office says deputies located a bag of methamphetamine on the driver's side floor board and a small baggie of meth outside the car where Kasmer ran. Deputies say the amount of meth was about 14.5 grams. Authorities also located a BB gun that looked a like a handgun under a seat.
Kasmer was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries and then booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail on no bond.
He's facing charges of possession of meth over 3 grams, habitual traffic violator for life, petition to revoke, resisting law enforcement, criminal recklessness, and reckless driving.
