EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - The City of Evansville has announced that the Swanson Nunn building in downtown Evansville will finally be demolished.
The building, located at 420 SE Eighth, once housed a dry cleaning business and then an electrical repair business.
Swanson Nunn declared bankruptcy in 1997.
Since then, there have been concerns about the state of the abandoned building and the fact that dry cleaning chemicals used to be used there.
The city says site preparation will begin next week and demolition will begin on Friday, March 21.
Debris will be removed from the lot, it will be backfilled, graded and seeded.
Work should be complete by April 8.
A $1.2 million dollar insurance settlement put the funds in place for the demolition and clean up.
