EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Kindergarten students at Delaware Elementary are celebrating Earth Day a month early.

Student spent some time at Ivy Tech Friday to learn about keeping our earth clean.

Keely Griggs with Keep Evansville Beautiful showed the kids which items are biodegradable and which are not.

Keely also introduced the young students to Evie, a golden retriever who prefers to pick up litter instead of sticks.

"If our children are going home, talking to their families, talking to their brothers and sisters and grandmas and grandpas about recycling and what it means and how beneficial it is to our community, then that's where it starts and hopefully it's a habit," said Keely.

The youngsters also saw a recycled art exhibit and made some recycled art of their own.

One of the students told us he wanted to be just like one of our photographers and made a recycled art video camera so he could practice.
