There was a big celebration Friday at Burns Elementary School in Daviess County.
Burns Elementary is the only school in the region to earn recognition as a 'Distinguished School' for two years in a row.
Students and staff members were recognized at the Bobcat Bash Friday morning.
Public Schools Superintendent Owens Saylor presented the school with a commemorative banner to congratulate them on all of their hard work.
"We are super excited for our faculty, staff and students they work very hard everyday, and I told the kids today its like icing on the cake when someone else notices too, so when the Kentucky Department of Education gives you that distinction two years in a row, we are just really proud of our school," said Amy Shutt.
The school received the distinguished status based on test results from the State Accountability System.
