JASPER, IN (WFIE) - A U.S. Olympic athlete was the guest speaker at a women's conference in Jasper today.

The message: Follow your dream.

Hundreds of local young women turned out for the Young Women Lead conference at the Vincennes University Jasper Campus on Thursday.

They got to hear from several guest speakers, including Olympic aerial skier Emily Cook.

Cook is originally from Boston, but has lived and trained in Utah for the past fifteen years.

She is now a three-time Olympian with Team USA and says she had a great experience at the Olympic games in Sochi.

She has faced injury-related set-backs in the past, but has still managed to qualify and excel in the Olympics.

Cook says she wants to inspire others to be as determined as she is.

"I've had so many incredible opportunities, as I've grown up," said Cook. "When I was these girls' age, I was mentored by a lot of amazing women in my life. So for me to have the opportunity to give back a little bit and to participate in an event like this, is a huge honor. Flips on skis is one thing, but having the chance to make a difference is really important to me."
