More than $1.3 million is being distributed to churches, schools, and organizations by the Catholic Foundation of Southwest Indiana.
The funds are from endowments managed by the Catholic Foundation. There are 460 beneficiaries.
The endowments range from providing the general operating budget for different parishes to providing scholarships to the catholic high schools.
Catholic cemeteries use endowments for perpetual maintenance and food pantries can use the funds to support the ongoing ministry.
"Donors get to see their dollars go to use and being used during their life to further their mission and know that it's going to go on forever," said Teri Hollander Albin. "It might add a resource teacher in a school that wouldn't otherwise be able to serve a certain segment of students. It has a huge impact on the parishes and the other organizations within the diocese."
This is the second consecutive year for distribution to be more than $1-million.
