Vanderburgh Co. hoping for grants for severe winter weather damage costs

VANDERBURGH CO., IN (WFIE) -

Vanderburgh County is hoping to snag hundredsof thousands of dollars in grant money to recoup some winter weather expenses.

Governor Mike Pence requested the federal grantsfor 49 Indiana counties that were hit hard by severe winter weather January 5-9.

EMA Director Cliff Weaver says VanderburghCounty racked up costs of about $750,000. He says a lot of that going to repairwater main break

The grants would pay 75%of eligible expenses.

Weaver says there's no timetable when thegrants could be announced.
