Evansville business leaders recognized at Hall of Fame event

Posted: Updated:

Three community leaders were recognized Thursday for their outstanding civic and business contributions to Southwestern Indiana.

This is the ninth year the Evansville Business Journal and Evansville Courier and Press have put on the event.

Chairman of South Central Communications John Engelbrecht was the first inductee to be recognized.

The late founder of Hoosier Cardinal Corporation, Thomas Morton, and the President and CEO of Deaconess Health System, Linda White, were also honored.

White says she credits her ability to make an impact in the community to the people who helped her along the way.

"I was very fortunate that people had trust and faith in me and they kept promoting me," said White. "It wasn't planned and that's part of the beauty of this. Just reach out and take every opportunity you possibly have."

Kids participating in Junior Achievement were also at the event.

Organizers encouraged those attending to become involved in the program, which aims to teach kids the skills that made today's inductees successful.
