EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Plans are in the works for Evansville's first convention at the future downtown convention hotel.

Mayor Lloyd Winnecke gave his State of the City address on Tuesday. In it, he announced The Indiana Association of Cities and Towns will meet at the new Hilton Doubletree in 2015.

In his speech, the mayor also talked Roberts Park, potholes and a nearly $2 million property tax shortfall he says the city is right now working to fix.

He says despite the challenges, he's focused on positive progress.

"We have activity that's really positive that's created a buzz all over the city," Winnecke says.

The mayor says Rotary is also donating $100,000 for a wetland project for the future Roberts Park. He says that will be the park's first project.
