New 5K race in Evansville for a good cause

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Shoe Carnival and Evansville's Hadi Shrine Temple are teaming up on a new 5K race.

The 'Shoe Shuffle' kicks off on Sunday, April 6 at the Shoe Carnival store on Green River Road.

All the money raised will go toward the Hadi Shrine Transportation Fund.

The fund helps Shriners take Tri-State children to hospitals in Chicago, Cincinnati, St. Louis and Lexington.

"Shoe Carnival is all about families. We love families. Most of our charitable donations go to family programs, so children are an incredible part of what we do. And this is all about the kids and Hadi Shrine is all about the kids," said Cliff Sifford, President & CEO, Shoe Carnival.

"We're just ecstatic about them helping us. We try to get this community come in for us to help us cause we do help the community, and so I think this is a good start again to let the people here in the Evansville area and Tri-State area see that we are here for them, we always have been.  All they gotta do is call," said Ken Mitz, Chief Rabban, Hadi Shrine Temple.

Runners and walkers of all ages are invited to participate.

The Shoe Shuffle is free for kids ages ten and under.

It's $20 to register up until March 20. From March 21 up until race day it's $25.
