A Daviess County High School student has been appointed to both West Point and the Naval Academy.
Kentucky congressman Brett Guthrie announced Wednesday that Coleman Truett, of Owensboro, received an appointment to the two service academies.
"Having attended West Point, I take great pride in the academy nomination and appointment process," said Congressman Guthrie. "I am always encouraged by the high number of applications my office receives for a nomination."
Each year Congressman Guthrie, nominates a limited number of people to the service academies – the Army, Navy, Air Force and Merchant Marine academies.
Once nominations have been made, each service academy determines who will receive an appointment.
The service academies announce appointments on a rolling basis.
All appointments should be announced by May.
"Coleman previously received an appointment to the Naval Academy and recently received an additional appointment to West Point. I know he will do great at whichever academy he chooses to attend," added Congressman Guthrie.
