Construction nearly complete on new clinic for Warrick Co. school employees

WARRICK CO., IN (WFIE) -

Finishing touches are being made this week to the Warrick County School Corporation's new Health and Wellness Clinic at Castle South Middle School.

It's a move the school corporation is hoping will save them big money on insurance and medical care costs.

"It's exciting. This has been in the works for almost two years," said Brad Schneider, Warrick County Schools Superintendent. "We see this as an opportunity to have a healthier, working staff."

Some final touches and in a short few weeks, school employees can go through the doors for healthcare.

"You're going to have a reception area obviously, and then you're going to have some examination rooms for the doctor to meet with patients," Schneider says.

About 1,000 teachers, counselors, and staff will soon have the option to be seen by a doctor, a nurse or fill a prescription at the new clinic.

Schneider says that's good for employees and the school corporation's healthcare budget.

"Everyone understands the ever-increasing costs of healthcare and we feel the clinic gives us our best option of containing those costs," he says.

Work in the new space could be complete later this week. Schneider says the school corporation is hoping to hold a grand opening on April 7th.
