A local dog rescue shelter is raising money by celebrating Mardi Gras.
It Takes A Village Canine Rescue is selling Mardi Gras beads to help pay for the vet bills.
There are standard tossing beads and novelty beads with dogs on them.
Officials say this is the second year for the Mardi Gras fundraiser and the need is crucial because of them any animals needing medical care.
"Quite a few dogs have heart worms, which that's a very expensive procedure to get that taken care of," said Amber Boyd. "We have a couple that have tumors and that gets a little pricey. It's very important that we get these beads sold and raise some money for these dogs."
The tossable beads are 3 for $5.
Novelty beads are $10.
The beads will be sold at the Franklin St bars Friday night and Saturday as part of the pub crawl.
If you can't make it to the Franklin Street Crawl, Stockwell Inn will be selling the beads until Tuesday.
