A flood warning is in effect near the Wabash River in Mt. Carmel.
There has already been some minor flooding with the river currently at about 21 feet.
The water may continue to rise to the point where it could cause roads to be closed.
One business located next to the river is already preparing.
An employee says whenever any flooding happens, they change their hours out of concern for drivers.
"I worry about people, kids or elderly, driving off into the river because they're so used to taking that as an exit," said Jeff Wyatt of Twin Rivers Restaurant. "So sometimes when it's really up high then we will go ahead and shut down in the evenings."
Authorities say it is important drivers do not, under any circumstance, drive into high water.
The flood warning for Mt. Carmel is in effect until Thursday.
