The Owensboro Convention Center is getting ready for the opening of the Big E Cafe on Saturday.
The cafe is located inside the lobby of the convention enter and pays tribute to the building that once stood in its place - The Executive Inn.
A section of the stage from the old showroom lounge, signed by each artist who performed there, is hanging on the wall.
"There are still a lot of memories," said Dean Dennis, convention center general manager. "When we were looking for a name of the cafe, I am not even sure who or where it really came from but someone said you should call it the 'Big E Cafe', so that's kind of where it came from."
The cafe was originally going to be used strictly for events, but due to large community interest, it was decided that the cafe would be open to the public on weekdays.
Hours of operation are from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
They will serve grab-and-go drinks, snacks, and sandwiches.
