Franklin Street readies for Mardi Gras Pub Crawl, Grand Parade

Posted: Updated:

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)- Businesses along Franklin Street on Evansville's West Side are gearing up for the 2nd Annual Mardi Gras Franklin Crawl.

It will officially get underway at 6 p.m. Friday, February 28th and will run until 2 a.m. Saturday morning.

Amy Word, president of the Franklin Street Events Association, says wristbands for the event are selling well, but that there are still plenty available.  Last year, 5,000 people attended the pub crawl.  This year Word says they are hoping for an even larger crowd.
13 bars, restaurants and businesses along Franklin Street are part of the pub crawl.
Wristbands are available at Leroy's Tavern, Sportsman's Grille & Billiards, Thyme in the Kitchen, Piston's Bar & Grill, Smitty's Italian Family Steakhouse, Gerst Haus, Winzerwald Winery, Tin Man Brewing Company & Lamasco Bar and Grill.
Wristbands are $5 (cash only) and cover a shuttle service during the event and a free cab ride home to locations in Evansville (not to other bars or restaurants).
On Saturday a brand new family-friendly Mardi Gras Grand Parade begins at 4 p.m.  If you'd like to watch the parade, you're asked to line Franklin Street from Wabash Avenue to St. Joseph Avenue.  The parade will travel along westbound Franklin Street.
