MADISONVILLE, KY (WFIE) -

The Kentucky State Police arrested a Madisonville man and his girlfriend after they say he fled from troopers.

On Wednesday, KSP says they received information that 32-year-old Joseph Larkins, of Madisonville, a fugitive with felony warrants, was at the Days Inn in Madisonville, KY.

Just before 9:30 p.m. troopers arrived at the scene.

KSP says when Larkins saw the troopers he ran out a back door of the hotel into a densely wooded area.

Authorities say Larkins refused to obey the troopers commands and "actively" resisted arrest, leading to an altercation with the troopers.

Troopers were eventually able to get Larkins under control and into custody.  He was then taken to Baptist Health Madisonville where he was treated for minor injuries.  Both troopers were also treated for minor injuries sustained in the altercation.

Larkins is charged with:

  • 2 counts of Assault 3rd Degree – Police Officer
  • Fleeing/Evading Police 1st Degree (On Foot)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • 3 counts of Executing Warrant for Court

Larkins' girlfriend, 20-year-old Kristen Bartlett, of Madisonville, is charged with:

  • Hindering Prosecution/Apprehension
  • Alcohol Intoxication
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree

Both are in the Hopkins County Jail.
