New interstate could be in Owensboro's future plans

Posted: Updated:

It looks that the proposed route of Interstate 69 route is not changing, but Owensboro may see an interstate in the future.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet revealed the six year recommended highway plans at GRADD's regional transportation meeting on Wednesday.

The state is looking at a study to see how close the Audubon and Natcher Parkways are to meeting interstate standards and possibly becoming Interstate 67.

"When the time is right, the bridge is built and Interstate 69 is complete, we can help get I-67 completed. Then Western Kentucky ends up with two interstates and not just one. I think everyone in the region will benefit from that," says Brad Schneider, the CEO of Kyndle.

Some of the other recommended plans for Daviess County include improvements to Highway 60 and reconstructing the intersection at Fairview Drive.
