A Mardi Gras kick off is happening on Saturday on Evansville's west side with the first ever Franklin Street Gumbo Cook-Off.
Local non-profits are partnering with Franklin Street businesses.
Each location will be offering up gumbo and proceeds will go to their partner non-profit.
Tasting spoons are $10 or two for $15. You can sample all of the recipes.
The spoons can be purchased at Leroy's, Sportsman's, Smitty's, The Gerst Haus, Tin Man and Lamasco.
You can pick up a judging ballot while you're there too.
In addition to fund raising, the entrants have a chance to win awards like most exotic gumbo, people's choice and most spirit.
The gumbo cook-off runs from noon until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and it's kid friendly.
It's organized by the Franklin Street Events Association.
