Evansville police say a man is arrested on several charges after an early morning hit and run.

It happened around 5:30 Thursday morning on Highway 41 near Walnut.

Police say 32-year-old Christopher Cole is suspected of hitting a pedestrian and then leaving the scene.

EPD says a witness called 911 to report what happened and was able to give a description and license plate number for Cole's vehicle. Officers stopped Cole when he was driving back through the area a few minutes later.

Officers believe Cole was intoxicated at the time of the wreck, but they say he refused to submit to any sobriety tests or a Breathalyzer.

Police say Cole was also in possession of prescription narcotics that he did not have a prescription for.

EPD says Cole was arrested and charged with Possession of Schedule II Narcotics CL-D Felony, Hit and Run with Injury CL-A Misdemeanor, OMVWI CL-A Misdemeanor, and OMVWI Refusal CL-A Misdemeanor.

The pedestrian suffered minor injuries.
