Officer: Pedestrian defends himself by shooting loose dog

Posted: Updated:

Police and the Henderson County Humane Society respond to a call on Wednesday that a dog had been shot.

We're told a dog got out of a home on Glover Drive and chased a pedestrian who was walking his dog.

Officers say the pedestrian shot the loose dog to protect himself.

The dog was not seriously hurt.  The bullet grazed its face.

Henderson Police tell 14 News that the owners of the dog will be cited for harboring a vicious animal and not having the dog on a leash.
