Standoff in Henderson leads to arrest of suspect in weekend crimes

Posted: Updated:

A standoff in Henderson ends with the arrest of a man on several charges.

Investigators say 24-year-old William Payne was wanted in connection with a robbery at Nolan's Liquors and a burglary at the PCMA Youth Baseball office.

Both incidents happened over the weekend.

Police say Payne barricaded himself inside a home at 431 North Ingram on Tuesday night.

Hostage negotiators and the emergency response team coaxed Payne out of a crawl space and he was taken to jail.

20-year-old Shi-Taveren Pope was also arrested Tuesday in connection with the liquor store robbery.

Surveillance video shows one of the store employees being attacked and his leg broken during that robbery.

Police say Pope and Payne got away with $1000 worth of alcohol and cigarettes.
