HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE) -

The Humane Society in Hopkins County has a fresh supply of pet food thanks to one special little boy. His act of kindness could not have come at a better time.

7-year-old Logan Stokes sacrificed his birthday presents to help the animals at the humane society.

"Me and my wife asked him what he wanted for his birthday and he said that he didn't want any presents, he wanted to help the animals at the humane society," said Alan Stokes, Logan's father.

So instead of new toys, he asked for pet food donations.

"I wanted to give the dogs food so they would not die," Logan told 14 News.

Logan showed off his muscles on Monday, with his dad's help, and unloaded all his donations.

"On the way out here, he was wondering if the dogs would be able to eat today if he didn't bring this dog food," Alan shared.

The Stokes unloaded 500 pounds of dog and cat food.

"We have pets of our own. He's an animal lover. He always helps us take care of our pets. He's a little outdoorsman. He loves to hunt and fish, so we're very proud of him," Alan said.

Logan also has his eyes set on a very fitting career goal. He told 14 News, "I want to be a vet when I grow up."

Officials say Logan's donation couldn't have come at a better time, as the shelter was running very low on food. His donation gave them a boost in the right direction.
