Race for the Cure moving back to Eastland Mall

Posted: Updated:

Evansville will be racing for a cure at a different location this year.

Komen officials announced on Wednesday morning that they will be moving the race back to Eastland Mall.

In 2009, the annual Race for the Cure was moved to downtown Evansville, but officials say they've had a lot of people ask if they would move it back to the east side.

The race date is September 28, which is a Sunday not a Saturday. It's a day officials say should attract more people.

"We would really like to come back on a Sunday so that all of our family members can participate. There's a lot of people who work on Saturday morning and there's also a lot of kids who participate in other events on Saturday morning. We are just trying to change it up a little bit and give those people an opportunity to participate once again," said Sheila Seiler, the Executive Director of Evansville's Komen Affiliate.

Seiler says she expects the race to take place at the mall for the next few years.
