Posted: Updated:

The Franklin Street Events Association reports that the Henderson Police Department has arrested the person who took thousands of armbands for their Mardi Gras and Gumbo Cook-Off.

Event organizers say the bands were stolen from the car of a board member.

They are now printing new bands which will go on sale next Monday at several Franklin Street locations.  Click here to see where you can buy them.

Organizers warn you should only purchase bands from these businesses to make sure you don't end up with one of that was stolen.

The sale of the arm bands, worth $17,000, will go to 13 local charities.

"The armbands themselves don't benefit the businesses. They benefit the charities that we're sponsoring in each individual event. Please, to help out those charities, don't buy armbands from anybody else other than the Franklin Street businesses," says Karen Conaway, a Franklin Street Events Association volunteer.
