The Dubois County Sheriff's Office is changing the way they process gun permit applications.
Deputy Stuart Wilson says the Indiana government has urged police and sheriff's offices to make the switch from paper to electronic fingerprinting since January 1.
He says the electronic fingerprinting is being conducted by identity services company, Morpho-Trust.
The process is much easier for law enforcement, since the online fingerprint database is more easily accessible.
Wilson says this new process should make the waiting period much shorter.
"We're glad that it's happening. It is going to be an easier process for us. It should save some extra steps, if there are problems during the process, and hopefully speed up the overall process," Wilson says.
Morpho-Trust representatives are in Jasper every Tuesday between 8:00 in the morning and 4:30 in the afternoon. You can schedule an appointment with them after filling out your online application.
