Plans add more bike, walking paths in Henderson

Posted: Updated:

The City-County Planning Commission is thinking about adding more bike paths in the city and county.

Their plan wouldn't only apply to bike lanes, but walking paths as well. The goal is to make the Henderson area more bicycle and pedestrian friendly. We're told it's designed to improve safety as well.

The Henderson Bikeway Advisory Committee met last year to come up with a new plan. It will add more paths in the city, and will also allow federal money to come to the area to help build these paths.

"Having bicycle lanes and places to walk in a community just makes a community more of a place that you want to be," said Nibby Priest.

Priest says, in the plan, the committee has asked for Van Wyk Road between Kimsy Lane and Fifth Street to be paved for bike lanes. They say it'll make it easier for bicyclists to get from the county to downtown

The meeting to discuss the plan was suppose to be held on Tuesday, but due to the weather, it'll more than likely be postponed until March.
