Huntingburg gets the 'ok' for railroad overpass project

The city of Huntingburg has received approval for the town's railroad overpass project.

Last June, the Dubois County awarded the city the funding needed.

On Thursday, the city got the green light from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

This authorization allows the city to begin contracting work for preliminary engineering services for the project.

"There's a whole range of work that these engineering firms will be doing that will eventually lead to a project that they will submit to INDOT," said Mayor Dennis Spinner. "After that, their review will then lead to actual bid documents and design documents."

The mayor also said the preliminary work will last about a year and construction will begin soon after.
