A Warrick County man accused of having sex with minors is in jail

Officials say 42-year-old Lawrence Kellems, of Boonville, was arraigned on Thursday on 15 felony counts including child molestation and exploitation.

Warrick County Sheriff Brett Kruse said deputies arrested Kellems on Wednesday at a motel in Evansville with the help of the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office.

According to the probably cause affidavit, Kellems took pictures and had sex with several minors on multiple occasions.

Sheriff Kruse said Kellem was a volunteer with court appointed special advocates for Casa in Warrick County, but investigators said there is no reason to believe any child in that program were involved.

When asked, Casa had no comment.

Kruse said the case remains under investigation.
