The Daviess County community and the Homeless Council of the Ohio Valley are coming together to provide homeless families and individuals the resources needed to overcome homelessness. The Council will host their annual Homeless Resource Fair, today in Owensboro. Twenty different agencies that aid the homeless will be there to give helpful information on safe housing. Several free services will also be available.
Some of the services include: Showers, haircuts, food pantry, clothing, dental and eye screenings, lunch, employment agencies, education and counseling services, and school resources.
The Council Chair Harry Pedigo says, "Our main goal is just to provide a service and awareness to the homeless and to let them know that there are services out there that can aid them and help them to build a foundation for themselves to get back on their feet."
The fair is being held at the Settle Memorial Church Renewal and Outreach Center from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. A light breakfast and lunch will also be served.
